Happiness Is An Option

Celebrate the power of family, friendship and positive thought.

Fiona Crompton dealt with life’s overwhelming, terrible and unfair situations with exceptional positivity. She astounded all around her with her lust for life, smiling optimism and amazing strength. To know her meant you experienced the ‘Fi effect’. She appeared on What Not To Wear After A Mastectomy and the Cancer Research UK campaign advert. Passionate about Walk the Walk’s MoonWalk, she walked during her last treatment of chemotherapy, in agony, on painkillers, and loving it. Her intimate diaries, unearthed after her untimely death, reveal how she managed to stay so happy, full of fun and fabulous to be with.

This book will put your life in perspective and inspire you to enjoy what you have, whatever that might be.

‘Fiona represents everything that Walk The Walk stands for: courage, strength, compassion, energy, optimism, determination and fun. A truly extraordinary woman.

Nina Barough, Founder of Walk the Walk.

PROFILE

BJ Gidman gave up life in education for a life of painting, graphic design and writing. Back in the UK after living in Belgium for nearly a decade, she still translates texts for the Museum of Ixelles in Brussels.  Her love of Nottingham stems from her time as a student at Trent Polytechnic in the 80s, and both books have connections to this period in her life.  Music inspires her writing, forming a soundtrack to the story.  Sneaking in song titles to tag chapters is a seriously innocent quirk.  Being an indie author appeals to her indie nature, love of indie music and need to be in total creative control.

She lives in Kent with the sound of the sea and the wildness of the wind.

Thanks to NWUK I independently published this first book in July 2011 which has now made £2,320 for Cancer Research UK and Walk the Walk.  It is a true life story about my friend who had a lust for life, a positive disposition and a smile that shone - unlike me who has the maudlin outlook of Morrissey, a lethargic disposition and an awkward smile.  This book makes you feel good about your life, or tells you how to find the good if life isn’t playing fair for you.  Find out more at www.bjgidman.com

A dirty little book bejewelled with New Order song titles like glitter on a turd.’  Ex-polytechnic misfit and Mojo reader

This is the story of the stark reality of growing up, of life in all its grubbiness, with some rather tricky emotional considerations thrown in.  Not to mention bacon, custard and some peaches.
